Facebook hires Motorola exec to be first CMO • 9:14 AM
- Gary Briggs, until recent Motorola Mobility's marketing chief, is now in charge of Facebook's (FB) marketing efforts. Briggs is replacing product marketing VP Eric Antonow.
- AdAge reports Briggs, who has done stints at Google, eBay, and PepsiCo, will have a bigger role relative to Antonow (hence the new title). He'll be responsible for leading ""branding and marketing efforts for all Facebook constituencies of users, developers and potential consumers of new products."
- Among Briggs' challenges: keeping younger Facebook users loyal amidst concerns the site is losing its allure for some of them (Facebook insists it's not a large number), and dealing with consumer privacy fears heightened by recent NSA revelations.
- Facebook has seen a number of prominent execs depart since its IPO.
